The Purple Chair provides dog walking, pet sitting, dog adventure trips, dog obedience training, pet taxi,
pet supply delivery, pet waste management (poop scoop), and pet bathing services.
At this time, services are limited to the 22201 zip code in Arlington, VA, which includes the Ashton Heights, Ballston,
Ballston/Virginia Square, Clarendon, Courthouse (Court House), Colonial Heights, Ft Meyer Heights (Ft Meyer/Radnor),
Lee Highway, Lyon Park, Lyon Village, Maywood, North Highlands, Rosslyn, and Virginia Square neighborhoods.

I love animals. All animals. And I'm passionate about making sure that my pets - and the
pets I care for - are happy and have the best quality of care possible.
I've had pets my entire life, and each and every one of them of them has been an
integral part of my family.
I've walked dogs and cared for friends and neighbors pets for over 30 years.
All dog walks and pet sit visits are 30 minutes long. Most other dog walkers only spend 20 minutes with your dog
and pet sit visits can be as short as 15 minutes. Whether you're at work or out of town your pet will
appreciate the extra time and attention.
I'm a small one-person business. The bigger companies place ads on Craigslist and then give total
strangers the keys to your house and access to your pets. When you hire The Purple Chair you're trusting me,
and just me, with access to your home and the care of your pet.
I've hired pet sitters in the past - quite possibly the same pet sitters you've used - and I
was just as disappointed with them as you were. At The Purple Chair you'll get the same level of care that
I give my pets and the same level of service that I'd expect from my petsitter.
And like any good pet sitter/dog walker, I'm licensed, bonded, and insured so you can feel safe
having me in your home and near your pets.

Services & Rates
The primary services of The Purple Chair
include: dog walks, dog adventures, dog sitting, cat sitting, small pet sitting, dog obedience training,
pet taxi service, pet bathing, pet supply delivery, and pet waste management (poop scoop) services. The Purple Chair
is happy to consider any special requests you may have.
Daily Dog Walks:
All visits are 30 minutes
Morning walks are between the hours of 7-9, mid-day walks are between the hours of 10-2,
late afternoon walks are between the hours of 5-7, and bed-time walks are between the hours
of 9-11
Each visit includes a walk, playtime, feeding or treats, fresh water,
feet cleaning, brushing/combing, belly rubs, and a note (or a text message or email if you
prefer) with the the time I arrived, detailed information about the visit, and the time I left
The cost per visit is $25 for one dog or two dogs
A pre-paid package of 20 visits is $400 for one dog or two dogs
Dog Adventures:
Includes a trip in the car to to a local nature park or dog park for fun and adventure, plus
the standard feeding or treats, fresh water, feet cleaning, brushing/combing, belly rubs,
and a note (or a text message or email if you prefer) with the time we left, detailed
information about the adventure, and the time we returned
The cost is $50 for one dog/one hour adventure
Dog Sitting:
All visits are 30 minutes
Morning visits are between the hours of 7-9, mid-day visits are between the hours of 10-2,
late afternoon visits are between the hours of 5-7, and bed-time visits are between the hours
of 9-11
Each visit includes a walk, playtime, feeding or treats, fresh water, feet cleaning,
brushing/combing, hugs, and belly rubs
You'll come to home a happy dog and a note with detailed information about
the visits (text messages or email updates are available upon request)
The cost for 4 visits (morning, mid-day, late afternoon, and bedtime) is $90 for one or two dogs
Cat Sitting:
All visits are 30 minutes
Morning visits are between the hours of 7-9, mid-day visits are between the hours of 10-2,
late afternoon visits are between the hours of 5-7, and bed-time visits are between the hours
of 9-11
Each visit includes playtime, feeding or treats, fresh water, brushing/combing, and litter box scooping
You'll come to home a happy kitty and a note with detailed information about
the visits (text messages or email updates are available upon request)
The cost for 2 visits (your choice of morning, mid-day, late afternoon, and bedtime) is $45 for
one or two cats
Small Pet Sitting:
Includes rabbits, birds, turtles, fish, hamsters, iguanas, snakes, and other similarly
sized pets
All visits are 15 minutes
Morning visits are between the hours of 7-9, mid-day visits are between the hours of 10-2,
late afternoon visits are between the hours of 5-7, and bed-time visits are between the hours
of 9-11
Each visit includes feeding or treats and fresh water
You'll come to home a happy pet and a note with detailed information about
the visits (text messages or email updates are available upon request)
The cost is $15 per visit (your choice of morning, mid-day, late afternoon, and bedtime)
Private Dog Obedience Training:
Includes your choice of any of the following commands: walking (not pulling) on a leash, sit, down, stay, come when called, jumping up,
growling/aggression, nuisance barking, drop it, and leave it
Cost is per dog and is $25 for 30-minute session or $50 for 60-minute session
A prepaid package of 10 30-minute sessions is $225 or 10 60-minute sessions is $450
Note: It is highly recommended that for maximum impact you combine training with dog walking or pet sitting services
Pet Supply Delivery:
Need pet food, cat litter, treats, medication, toys, or other pet supplies - let The Purple Chair bring them to you
Cost is $20 plus the actual cost of the supplies
Note: Additional charges may apply if supplies are not available locally
Pet Taxi:
Need to get your pet to the vet, doggie day care, or a grooming appointment - let The Purple Chair do it for you
Cost is $20 for the first 5 miles and $2 for each additional mile; $0 for the first 15 minutes of waiting time;
$10 for each additional 15 minutes of waiting time and does not include any charges for services at the
destination (e.g., the actual cost of the grooming appointment or vet visit)
Pet Waste Management - Poop Scoop or Litter Box Change:
Got poop - let The Purple Chair clean up after your pet
Poop scoop tools are carefully disinfected between every job to eliminate the possibility of
spreading parasites or diseases
Cost is $20 for each service
A pre-paid package of 20 visits is $350 for each service
Pet Bathing:
Got a dirty dog or cat - let Let The Purple Chair bathe your pet
Includes a bath (with pet shampoo and conditioner), brushing/combing, and either a towel or blow dry
Cost is $40 per pet
Extra Services:
Need someone to be at the house to let contractors or maintenance workers in, having furniture delivered
or a Goodwill pickup and you can't take the day off of work - let The Purple Chair be there for you
As an added bonus your pet will get lots of attention and extra playtime

Policies
Introductory visit - includes registration, meeting of pets, and key pickup: $0
Payments: we accept cash, checks, Paypal, and all major credit cards
Payment is due within 10 days of date services were rendered
There is a 3% surcharge for all credit card charges
Cancellation fee: $25 for each scheduled service not cancelled 24 hours in advance
Late payment fee: $10 for every 5 days overdue
Returned check fee: $30
Saturday/Sunday surcharge: $6 per visit (unless it's a holiday and then the holiday surcharge applies)
2012 holiday surcharge: $10 per visit on all federal holidays (January 2, January 16, Febrary 20, May 28,
July 4, September 3, October 8, November 12, November 22, and December 25)
2012 holiday surcharge: $6 per visit on January 1, January 3, April 6-10, May 25-27, May 29, July 2-3, July 5-6,
August 31-September 2, September 4, November 21, November 23-26, December 22-24, and December 26-31

Who's Sitting In The Purple Chair?
The Purple Chair got it's start back in 1998. At the time, a feisty orange tabby named Dexter ruled my life (and my heart). Dexter's favorite seat in the house was the the one piece of furniture he was not allowed on - a purple silk wingback chair. Dexter knew he wasn't allowed on this chair and for the most part he indulged me, but when I left Dexter alone for too long I would come home to find a pile of orange hair on the purple chair. As I was wracking my brain to come up with a creative yet professional name for my company, the phrase "Dexter, get off the purple chair" just kept going round and round in my head. And hence, The Purple Chair was created in Dexter's honor. Dexter has since passed away and now Danny, a havanese, and Brady, a bolonka, rule The Purple Chair.
